Before Pau was traded to the Lakers, Memphis had never won a playoff series. Since 2010, they have been to the playoffs six straight years, won four playoff series and reached one Conference Finals.
Now compare that trade to the KG heist in 2007. Boston won a title, reached another Finals and was a major contender until 2013. When they traded KG and Pierce were traded to the Nets in 2013, they got another steal, bringing back assets that have set them up as a very good team. On the other hand, Minnesota hasn’t been back to the playoffs since 2007, and the Nets are the worst team in basketball with no picks.
