You seem to have missed my first sentence about the Boston pick:
“Tatum may turn out to be the best player from this draft class…”
I wrote very specific rules for my picks. The Lakers’ plan since Magic and Pelinka took over is to bring back ShowTime.
Lonzo does that. Tatum does not.
I don’t want another Kobe wannabee sucking the life out of the ball. Watching the Celtic and their players taking turns in iso is downright ugly.
Kuzma is a better scorer than Tatum, and he plays within the Lakers’ system, while taking on the role of guarding bigger players. Many GMs think Ingram may end up being a better overall player than Ben Simmons, so I think that observation applies to Tatum, as well.
In short, there’s no way the Lakers’ would have created an even bigger logjam on the wing by picking Tatum.
