If this is plagiarism, there isn’t one sentence that wouldn’t result in a lawsuit. With the exception of “bridge,” you changed almost every word and tense, while adding the observation that your son was hell bent in his destruction. In the original, the author’s use of “repaid” could either be interpreted as an act of vengeance, or a sad observation of youthful folly. Plus, you added a second method of destruction with the fire.
