Immersion is the best way to learn a language. Many years ago, I stayed at a friend’s apartment in Paris, while he was staying at my place in Los Angeles. I was alone, spoke almost no French, and happened to be staying in the 19th arrondissement, which was a much older neighborhood with few tourists and no English speakers. After a couple of days, I dreamt in French, but couldn’t understand a word of what was being said.
