Interesting. What do you look at first, second and third?
I go by watching the games and then researching advanced stats to see if what I think I’m seeing is backed up by the numbers.
I’m certainly not suggesting Net On/Off Ratings (just to be clear this is not like box score +/-) are the only thing to look at. But I do wonder if it isn’t a better way to evaluate players than using other ways that yield so many empty stat guys. Also, I like the way that year over year changes (unless the player changes teams or there is a complete overhaul) are not as affected by something like a guy getting hot on three pointers one year and then regressing the next.
