Mike, thanks for a beautifully written poem, one that was appreciated by many of the women on the site.
But I wonder, has anyone thought about how the title and the last line color your entire message?
“Forgive” according to the dictionary means:
- To grant pardon for or remission of (an offense,debt, etc.); absolve.
- To grant pardon to (a person).
- To cease to feel resentment against
In other words, desire — the deepest and most powerful force that lives in the heart of every man — is an offense. Like you, we are all guilty of something for which we must be absolved.
It’s totally f*cked up that this idea passes by undetected at best, and admired or celebrated at worst.
