One is process oriented, internal and totally within your control. The other is result oriented, external and mostly outside of your control.
Read books on the Inner Game, sports psychology, zen — pretty much anything that has to do with peak performance — and you will find you can only focus on the work, not the result.
The less you care about the result, the less you will be blocked by ego and fear and the better your work will become. The paradox is that when you do the above, the results eventually get better and better.
