Thank you for responding more calmly and rationally.

It’s obvious that you dream of leaving the corruption, repression and lack of opportunity where you live. I hope you find your way here someday.

I’m grateful that I was lucky enough to have been born here. America is a beacon of hope for a large part of the world. One of the things that makes this country great is the fact that opportunities are available to everyone who comes here.

We don’t shut our doors and say “f*ck you, we’ve got ours and we’re not sharing.” (Although there is a growing part of the population that thinks that exact thing if you have the wrong skin color or religion.)

Our history is filled with stories of people who sacrificed everything to right a wrong. They didn’t say “well, it’s not happening in our backyard, why should we risk our lives?” or “it’s a lot worse over there, so what’s the big deal?”

A true patriot sees what needs to be improved and works toward making his country better. In 1872, Carl Schurz made the famous statement:

“My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.”

Only false patriots shorten it to “My country, right or wrong,” and miss the entire point of what was meant.

With regard to economics, maybe this article will explain how companies like UBER do not increase GDP. Nothing new is being produced. Less money is being earned by the little guys who then spend it and then recirculate in the economy. There are numerous studies that show higher wages increase the economy faster than if the money is concentrated in a small group of super wealthy people. It is called the acceleration principle.
