Thanks for recognizing that. I always try to reverse the gender of other writers to see if my reactions are based on the writing or what I assume is their unspoken message behind the writing.

As far as owning my white male privilege, you may be right. We are the last acceptable targets in society.

Regarding the whole editor’s choice thing, I hope you didn’t interpret my words to mean that I was writing less than my best or not being authentic. The strength of this article is really Pet Benatar’s music—I played a very small part in it, so I don’t regard it as a sample of my best writing.

Now that I think about it, I unconsciously veered toward the formulaic content marketing BS that we both hate. It’s just that I dig pat Benatar and wanted to share her music, especially to younger people who may not know her.
