The thing that blows me away about Medium is the number of people who have the courage to expose the most intimate details of their lives. I feel like I’m eavesdropping on someone’s therapy session. There are a lot of women who write about relationships issues, health and intimacy problems, and how if feels to be worried about their personal safety 24/7. It’s amazing how other people can feel so deeply about things beyond our comprehension.

If you read enough of these articles, you’ll see the difference between your goal of helping others get through the same thing you went through and trying to further a personal agenda.

My problem with a lot of the life hacks and listicles is that so much of the information is just copied and pasted without linking the original sources, or just common sense stuff that anyone could write, or common sense stuff that diametrically opposes the life hacks written by other gurus.

At the worst, you get some people writing willfuly ignorant crap, that thousands of people accept as gospel, simply because an editor at Medium recommended it as one of the great self help articles of the year.
