Twenty years ago, when my son was twelve (and already smarter than most movie studio executives), we would go to the movies, which were relatively cheap back then, and rate the trailers we watched (and often mocked) before the film started. There was “theater,” “video rental,” “HBO” and “Bravo channel” Using this system, we never saw (or paid for) horrible movies. By the time they reached basic cable, a couple of years had gone by and we forgot about them. Or, we would watch the worst movies only to mock them, like they used to do on Sci-Fi Theater 3000.
