What a great video. That whole discussion of Daredevil winning a battle with Thor being cool, while Black Panther doing the same thing being this horrific attack on the Gods of comics was mind blowing. When I listened to Dwayne speak, all I could think about was our similarities — comic fan, a little nerdy, middle aged, probably with a family — who happened to be black and dealing with all this stupidity from the white fans. I don’t know if that represents something good or bad from your perspective. I know that whole “I don’t see skin color” thing is a bunch of bull, and probably drives you crazy. But as a casual fan, seeing a black superhero shaped by the prejudice around him should be something we embrace, for the same reason we embrace any good writing — the ability to experience, if only for a moment, a completely new perspective.
That’s why I love Walter Mosley. He’s a great writer who happens to reveal a part of life in America that I could never experience. And I think you do the same. So, many thanks for the way you educate us all.
