While Clinton won only a plurality of the vote, he beat his two opponents by significant margins (almost 6% and 5.8 million votes ahead of George HW Bush, the second place candidate). How does that make the result “un-democratic” and how does this have any connection with the 2000 and 2016 elections, where the candidate receiving more votes does not win?
